Uh oh, a spinoff blog? Does mmmgravy members embarking on solo careers signal a breaking up of the band? I certainly hope not.

Cynda said...

no its not. magda's had it for awhile but it's a girly blog yay...and what is this a spin-off blog...wtf just cause we have a blog doesn't mean its a spin off; it's totally different. There are a lot of blogs out there...our is unique....so don't even try and say were splitting...we're just broadening our horizons

Ben said...

Don't worry Shakeer, its not like they were vital anyway.

And John, I swear to God, if you link us to that blog, I will delete Outsiders from existence. Not that you would reward that kind of treachery.

Seriously, I agree with Cynda. That sort of semi-pornographic material has its place and the girls know this is not it (see anti-pornography mission statement in August 20th's post Triumph if this is unclear for some reason), so they are getting their satisfaction from another blog. I wish we were enough for them, but hey, what're ya going to do?

Good luck girls, it looks 100 times better than that likeapuma bullshit.

John and Karolyn said...

Ironically, I was considering deleting this topic as blatant advertisement...feel free to tell me if you'd like me to. No offencec cynda, but this link has no place here. Notice no blogs other than the mighty shakeer, who is a sponsor of mmmgravey, are linked to. MMMgravey does not support spin-off blogs.

That is all.

whoa there, do I sense a little bit of hostility? Just because our blog is pink and named after a flower doesn't mean it's a spin-off blog, or that it's of any lesser value. Good God, sorry if we've completely destroyed mmmgravy's image.

Cynda said...

aww you guys are really no fun...you need to lighten up a little....oh well I suppose you'll do what you want erase it don't but us women know how to have a little fun even if you boys don't

btw remember...we are in high school; these are just friendly blogs; it's not life and death no need to be so serious...geez

Ben said...

I thought about it too, but lets leave it. Its a one time thing, and they did link this on theirs, so we can draw off their huge internet following ;-) No, I bet they seriously will get more hits than we do. I've noticed a trend while looking surfing profiles (I take avoiding work to an extreme. One time I found a kid my age in Portland who had virtually all the same interests as me except he had a blog all by himself and went on these things he called "dates") . Anyway, The average guy has like 150 profile views while girls get like 2000. Beware girls, there are some bad, horny men on the internet. Like that guy who took girls on "dates." I bet they're all dead.

Cynda said...

did your moms drop you on your heads as babies?!?! wow for peopel who slck off so much and are generally low key guys, you really get worked up over the smallest things...But yeah ben you're right there are a lot of creeps out there!!

oh and nancy told me to tell you to stop being so insecure and I couldn't agree more!!!!

I don't see the problem. Stop messing with the girls, they just wanted to make sure that people knew about the previously unknown fountain of knowledge and intellegence that is pink habiscus. I really can't tell if that was sarcastic or not, it's really late.

John and Karolyn said...

Pink doesn't bother me, flowers don't bother me, and you know I of all people would not be bothered by these creatures you call "girls".

However, oh ye critics who claim "this is only highschool" and we're afraid of "their knowledge" and how it isn't a "spin-off blog", look at what you just said. ONLY highschool. I don't care how old we are, we are fully capable of maintaining a piece of internet literature. Quality does not need to be sacraficed because of age. I have yet to see any "great displays of knowledge" on this other blog, well I did, but then they were all deleted...go figure. :P And a spin-off...of course it is. Ben starts a blog, attracts and audience and authorship, and then another blog is started using *only* authors already present on the first blog...how is this not a spin-off?

I'd also point out to all you ladies who once upon a time criticized the all-boys atmosphere of mmmgravey that you've gone and done the other extreme...and how can you call something "pink, girly, perfect" on a blog that is not pink or girly, thereby implying its not perfect? Sheesh.

Oh, and in case you missed it, everything I've said has been mock-serious. Regardless...I would like to state now that no future shameless self promotion will be tolerated unless there is a point...like actual content that relates to mmmgravey you are linking to, or something otherwise of interest. Not just a general attempt to draw off our awesome readership.

Oh, and Benny...of course girls get more hits, they keep looking at their own profile/topics and posting tons of comments...they're all ocd like that. :P

I'm not gonna lie: I was pretty excited to recieve a blog invitation, because I have never been an official poster before.

But here's the thing: I looked at the pink blog, and dear god, it is too overwhelmingly feminine.

I'm sorry, I just cannot handle that much estrogen...if the blog gets some guys involved, then I would be happy to contribute.

However, if it gets guys involved, how different is it from The Outsiders Looking In?

Not much.

I don't know...I mean, sure, there's Power Rangers in Space, Power Rangers as Robots, Power Rangers: DinoThunder! but really, what's the one we all know and love?

The original blatantly stereotypical Power Rangers (I mean, come on...the girly one is in pink, the black dude is in black, and the asian girl is in yellow??? Very, uh, creative.).

Don't think of this as a betrayal of the gender, ladies. I am still honored to have been invited to your blog, and probably still will post seeing as having a post that says "Katie" at the end will be quite thrilling.

But I've always been more into the originals.

Cynda said...

Hello John!?!?!? Magda and Nancy were never asked to be authours on mmmgravy and therefore your comment about our blog only being made up of your authors is an outright lie!! lier!!! Magda started her blog and had very very little to do with yours so shut up!!!

Adrianna said...

I think I am going to start a blog called "Switzerland" and be completely neutral on this whole thing. Because that's what the Swiss would do and the Swiss are cool. Plus they make good chocolate and have cool knives. And probably windmills.

And yeah. Why can't we all just get along?

PEACE

Scott said...

I say we kick the chicks off.

Is he serious? Who knows.

Ben said...

I would just like to say that I commented once that I would get rid of Random Amigos and put in a Katie, Nancy, Maggie team, if they wanted it. None of them responded, but the offer stands, regardless of the pink blog. Also, Switzerland blows and isn't even cool enough to have windmills.

John and Karolyn said...

Cynda, as a note...Maggie never WANTED authorship on this blog. I also asked her, she said it didn't matter. I also recall a post inviting anyone and everyone to express interest in authorship if they had any...neither maggie nor nancy responded with any.

I'm noticing a great deal of hostility cynda...are you insecure about maggie's blog? After all, we could have treated it exactly like Colio's attempt to engage in a "blog war" and simply deleted your post and booted you as an author...but we didn't. I think you are the one taking this far too seriously...after all, what's the point in trying to recruit readers anyways? People talk to be heard, don't they? :P

And you're right...maggie's blog was very original and unique and awesome...then she decided to delete a bunch of stuff and switch to posting pictures. That's why I didn't, and wouldn't, delete the link...because that element of the blog is radically different than ours. Likewise, maggie and karolyn's dream of "a place to be girly" is also radically different. But you have a differenet audience than us...girly girls. No offence, but I've never liked that particular element of the female gender...sure, all girls are overly-feminine sometimes, just as I'm exceedingly macho playing football. (heh heh heh...) But girls who are always like that I can't be around too much. I end up feeling like killing something or puking...maybe both at once.
And if you want a girly girl outlet, why on earth are you posting on a mixed-gender blog about it? Go find girl chat rooms or something. :P

I for one cannot comprehend the female mind at times...you were outraged when there was an all male blog and lobbied female rights...now you go and partake in some reverse-discrimination. Go feminism! :P

Yeah, I'm still a skeptic. Go figure.

Ben, I have talked to the nation of Switzerland and after careful contemplation, they have told me to tell you that if you say that one more time about their fine chocolate-producing nation they are prepared to "throw a dissin' on you." Whatever that means, crazy Swiss.

But seriously, I'm neutral in this matter because I find it all quite silly.

Nancy said...

Adrianna, you make me laugh.

Cynda said...

Oh that crazy kid doesn't she make us all laugh!!! Go Adrianna I love you!!!

Magda said...

Oh dear... you're all insane. Really, I think the only sane one is Adrianna. Because she's right, you're being silly.

Yes John, the "girl blog" started out as my own private thing, which NO ONE SAW (or at least, no one was supposed to see...). I abandoned it because I didn't update regularly, and I hadn't in a while. So yes, I did delete everything and started over to just put up pictures and stuff. If this made it lose it's originality and uniqueness, then fine.

Some girls expressed an interest in becoming authors, so I decided 'why not?' But it was not my intent to start a blog war, and I didn't even think of the "Outsiders" when I created it or invited other members. And by no means am I discriminating against guys. If anyone wants to join, they can tell me. However, I don't really see any guys as actually wanting to do that, considering it IS pink. I could be wrong. On a similar note, I don't think it is or will be overwhelmingly feminine... So what if it is pink? Nor do I think we're targeting a solely "girly girl" audience...

As for it being a spin-off, I really was not an author on this blog, and I don't remember being asked if I wanted to be or even about a Katie, Nancy, and Maggie team... I could have just missed it, but that's really not the point. To tell you the truth, I find "The Outsiders Looking In" as kind of intimidating. Even if I had been named an author, I'm not confident enough in my writing abilities or think I have anything to say that most of you guys would be interested in reading about. And some of the other girls agree with me on this. So maybe our pink "feminine" blog is just a place for us to post without having to worry about that. And John's comment on our poor quality of posts, along with Ben's on how we are not vital to this blog, kind of reinforces that notion.

I mean, really, I think you would all get annoyed with us anyway if we started posting about our obsessions with Harry Potter. Or the Lord of the Rings. Or homie music, PMS, or Karolyn's habit of groping people. I personally wanted a place where we can all run around unchecked, didn't have to report to any higher authority, and could be as random as we want.

However, even though I really don't understand what the big deal is, I can see where you guys are coming from when you say it probably wasn't a good idea to shamelessly plug our blog here. And really, I'm all for deleting this post... I don't intend to draw off of the Outsiders' readership, I never meant for it to be a replacement to this blog (nor do I think you'll lose any authors or readers, by the way), and to my knowledge, we haven't even mentioned the Outsiders in any of our posts, except for a little link on the side, which I can take off if you all really don't want to be associated with us.

It's not a competition, kids!

I also don't think we are in any way "perfect." Nor do I think Cynda meant anything by that.

So there you go. I really just think you guys need to grow up. We're acting like children here, and Adrianna's right, it's quite silly. Now are we done yet?

Hey, and would you look at that? Dave's not completely opposed to being a contributor! And Dave is definitely not a girl... Right?

Nancy said...

Maggie, that was beautiful.

Cynda said...

Magda wow you are so much better with words then me!!! that WAS beautiful. As for the whole intimidation thing...wow I thought I was the only one..I mean compare the posts on each one...oh yeah and that whole we're not vital thing yeah that actually hurt a lot, and I know I'm not the only one. But yeah you guys would be pretty annoyed if we talked about the stuff we do on the other blog, especially since you take this onje so seriously.

Miguel said...

Well, we did make it and everything...that and, much like testosterone irritates women in insane amounts, estrogen can annoy men. I mean, you said it; "Pink and girly". The man's man would look at the name "pink hibiscus" and cringe, if he ever figured out what a hibiscus was.

Dave said...

it's a flower dude, c'mon...

yeah, ok, I had to look it up... I was expecting something dirty... which would my explain my disappointment with my google image results

Ben said...

Just to clarify further, the "not vital" thing was tongue in cheek, I guess you haven't been around me enough (very wise of you I might add) to develop an ear for my utterly retarded sense of humor. And if anyone feels they are not a good enough writer to post, get real. Would we have Jeff on this blog if we cared about that? No. This blog is about community more than anything else.

How I visualize this glorious blog- We are like Boxcar children with Shakeer as our benevolent grandfather. The Boxcar kids relied on each other to get through hard times and used the unique talents each one had to create a successful crime-fighting team. Could only Henry and Violet have stopped the person trying to ruin the hot air balloon rally in book #47? Or could just Jessie and Benny have saved the Piccolos' pizzeria in book #33? Of course not dear girl. Teamwork is the name of the game. Everyone, everyone is welcome.

post script
Once I had a dream. Everyone was connected to a sub-blog (sub meaning less people, not less qualtiy) that would be linked on the Outsiders, which each person would also be a contributor to. That way we could have the regular blog type material in the sub-blogs and maintain the current mishmash that we got going here. And people could have their regular profiles on the sub-blog.

Okay, I was smoking something, but it would be pretty sweet.

post post script
I know this issue is pretty much dead, but please, a couple more comments. We need to break Rachel's "Cock Sandwich" record.

Ben said...

Sorry, we hadn't beat it yet when I wrote that. Good job!

Cynda, I thought you would know I was joking. Now I'm hurt that you don't understand me ;)

And Dave, if it was dirty, you of all people would know what it was.

post script
I knew what it was.
It is a pretty dirty looking flower, though.

Hmm, I never really got into the Boxcar children so I don't know what the hell you're talking about but I think we get the picture. Either way, it's not like you can just say that we're welcome to post and we'll all of a sudden start posting whatever we feel like. The Outsiders has a certain level of sophistication that is expected and upheld. Pinkhibiscus on the other hand is a blog where people can be as spontaneous/weird/dorky/girly/manly/crazy as they want to be. Just becuase we're using blogger and you know us doesn't mean it's a spin-off blog. I personally don't think Pinkhibiscus should be an entirely girly blog either so props to maggie for clearing that up. Also, I really hope you guys don't 'judge' which blog is better because I'd like to be the optimist and say that they've both got merit in their unique ways.

Nancy said...

wow, sorry i didn't know i posted so many fricken times

John and Karolyn said...

Maggie, I had hibiscus in my links folder...either you, or someone else, linked me to it sometime. I recall it having more about what was going on in your life on it...so I'm fairly certain it was before you deleted things. Forgive me if I wasn't supposed to have that link, but I wouldn't have unless someone told me "hey, check this out".

As for everything else, I've been being sarcastic the whole time. My apologies if that didn't carry though...I tried to make sure I used enough smilies to get my point across. I just found it amusing after how much some girls, particularly cynda (I know there were others, too, but I don't remember which) complained about MMMGravey having few/no female authors for a long time. And in her post, she said "Shameless plug, get over it". And then she called it girly and perfect. Hence my decision to kinda sarcastically mock her some. Maybe that was outta line, I personally don't think it was, however. But then, most things I do are for my own amusement...and I'm very amused right now.

In all seriousness, though, if you have two blogs with the same or similar sets of authors, one will die off. Facts of blogging: people are too lazy to actively post quality material on numerous locations. Too much work is involved for most people to manage that. At best, a sort of compromise is struck where posts of a certain type go to one place and posts of another type to to the second blog. (That has been my own approach in these regards). But even then, one of the two will be shortchanged. So hypothetically speaking, if you get enough MMMGravey authors, MMMGravey could die out. I'm not saying that will happen, just pointing out that there are times when it is in fact "a competition".

You also do have a good point that we wouldn't want endless HP rants here. I am perfectly willing to discuss PMS with you if you'd like (I have a tradition of discussion so-called awkward topics and ending up the one laughing while the other person is just plain nervous) and if you have an amusing anecedote involving karolyn groping someone, feel free to post it. But as I mentioned above, there is a definite difference between the two blogs.

I suppose in the future I'll label all my sarcasm, as apparently few people manage to pick up on it.

< sarcastic self-mockery > (hah, ERROR: Your HTML cannot be accepted: Tag is not allowed: < sarcastic self-mockery >)
Perhaps my humour is simply too great for your insignificant little minds to wrap around! On that note, I wish you a a

(Props to first period physics and anyone else who actually laughs at that "equation")
