Return of the King extended edition

Oh my god, this preview is amazing. Click the title to see it. If a window doesn't pop up immediately after you get to the lord of the rings website, there's a link on the left side of the page. This monstrous DVD comes out Dec. 14, so uh, if anyone wants to be man or woman of the year, they can lend me $20 to go buy it.

~Nancy

PS. Doesn't Barrie Osborne look exactly like Mr. Benware?

That was beautiful

Wow, that is so sweet. I love how even all the footage that they decided to cut are even more powerful and interesting than footage in so many other movies. Just goes to show how incredible the footage they keep is.

Okay...just to get this out there for those who never heard it...I'm that guy who didn't think Lord of the Rings was that amazing. Well...okay, I thought Fellowship was amazing, but the other two didn't do it for me. There were some fantastic scenes, especially in Return of the King, but not enough for me to fall in love with it the way so many others have.

That said, the Extended Edition preview did pique my interest in one spot - That dude coming out from the gates who was talking all freaky and then held up that white cloth. Yeah...didn't catch his name, but that guy's awesome. Oh, and Aragorn (who was SO much cooler when they just knew him as Stryder) talking to the ball deal. That kicked ass.

Unfortunately, "Extended Edition" doesn't mean "no 40 minute ending" nor does it mean "Frodo and Sam come back and the Shire's destroyed," so I don't foresee me picking this up.

Dude. That was the mithril armor. Ouch man. I need some time Scott, to sort out my thoughts. I don't think I know you. Did you not see Sam point out the clouds to Frodo? Do you not remember his talk about the good in this world worth fighting for? Can you not appreciate the beauty that permeated every scene for twelve of the best hours of movie history? Yes, the film may have a few flaws, but ultimately it was a superb adaptation of one of the most well-done, well-loved pieces of literature of alltime. It will not be topped, so I plan on having every piece of it.

I will have to agree with Ben. LOTR is amazing. Yes, Return of the King was long, and yeah, your ass hurts by the end because of sitting for so long, but suck it up, and enjoy it! Or better yet, read the books...
Just the grandeur and vastness of the world Tolkein creates is astounding. An amazing work, both the movies and the books.

I thought that it was really cool when the gay elf guy jumped on the elephant. That was sweet.

Also Scott, what is wrong with a 40 minute ending to a 10 hour movie? It only seems appropiate.

Yes...it would SEEM that way, wouldn't it?
