just putting it out there

Hey all, I just wanted to post cause today I had one of those 'I miss home moments' for about five seconds before I got over it. Mostly I’m doing this cause I’m putting of doing my Poli Sci paper which is not due till Friday, I’m just being responsible. So college is defiantly still cool and in fact I was just talking to Ben and thought of something. Today I tried my first cigar, which was pretty good. Now I’m not planning on doing anything else but I figured why not try. Finding it to be quite relaxing and cool I wanted to ask is there anyone else on this blog who does smoke an occasional cigar, and if you are thinking about trying I encourage it. It would be really cool to go home and have a cigar with a bunch of you guys. Like the title of the post, I’m just putting it out there, and hope no one ridicules me for doing so :(. Anyways have a great week guys, and since I don’t feel like proofing this piece it probably has mistakes in it, I apologize.

I would like to say that I have taken up peeing while standing on my head, so if any of you guys want some tips or want to be my vice president in the Portland chapter I am heading up, talk to me.

Ooh, now aren't you the cool one.

My comment was directed at Jeff, not Ben.

now what kind of cigar was it?
Because Ive had real cubans and they were good, but then I have nothing to compare them to. What kind are you going to bring back to us is the question eveyone should be more interested in, Cubans?

P.S. if you don't believe I have had cubans ben can testify that Courtney's father is Cuban and get cigars from his brother occasionally. I dont endorse that but hey who am i to judge.

Ben, can I be the treasurer?

Sorry Jeff, I'm not really into smoking things... conceptually I'm still a little hazy on why it's fun. (If you want to convince me, do it over AIM.) Besides, you don't get nearly the rush you get from lines of cocaine. (Haven't done coke? Why not try? ;) )

What Ken said, but don't bother trying to convince me; alcohol and nicotene are two things I simply will never enjoy.

Ben, are the bathrooms at ND immaculately clean? I'm not keen to practice it at CUA.

Misha loves cigars... you two could have a little powwow ;)

I noticed a double standard recently and I'm curious about it. When I see girls (especially Misha, because she looks like an addict...) smoke it disgusts me, but when its guys its just boys being boys, almost classy in a way. I wonder why I'm such a sexist... lols

Uhm.
You can try what you went, you're an adult and all that.
Just don't light up around me and expect me to stay near you.

I don't see smoking as cool, or hip, or desirable, or benefical in any way. The benefits of alcohol I at least understand, even if I don't agree its worth it/smar

Dave, I think that's just a societal thing...we're brought up to see wealthy men having a cigar as ok.

I wouldn't pee on my head in the ND bathrooms, occasionally they flood (due to someone taking a really big shower, I assume). You could stand on your head and pee in your sink, though. That'd be cool unless someone wacked a doornob into your ass...

To ammend, I would never pee on my head. I also wouldn't pee while standing on my head in an ND bathroom.

Yeah, I like the fact that I can breathe normally and I'd like to keep it that way, thank you very much.

Thanks for that comment, Dave. And for putting me in such a good light. Especially since this "addict" has smoked a puff or two from a cigar 4 times in her life. I appologize if my excessive smoking is unnatractive to you. Get over it. For your information, I don't 'love' cigars. What was the purpose of your comment? To make me feel bad?

Dave said...

Hmmn, Yes. But you're right, I should try to be more positive.

"Misha enjoys the occasinal smoking of cigars, perhaps she would accompany you!"

better?

When I visited NYU, TONS of people smoked, but here, hardly anybody does. My lungs are already disfunctional (yeah asthma!), I don't really need to add to that by smoking. Plus it smells bad. And wastes money.

Oh and that cancer thing too, if you're worried about stuff like that.

Everyone smokes at loyola, majority of them gilrs. Two of my roomates do and you can't walk to a class without someone blowing smoke in your face.

When the fire alarm goes off everyone lights up outside while they wait. I guess the thought that crosses their mind as the building pretends to be on fire is "got my cigarrettes? check." Oh not to mention we are all super packed outside so when you have half the people (about 350) lighting up there's a haze of smoke that encircles everyone.

we have a flower bed called the ashtray (I'm sure you can figure out why) in the middle of campus as a side note a statue of St. Ignatious stands in the center.

There was a group with a bong the other night right outside our dorm and my roomate was like "Cynda do YOU know what that is?" and having never actually seen one in real life I guessed and I'm sure I surprised them all. It's the small things that impress them.

haha, Mike, what I meant was not "please convince me to smoke" but rather "it probably won't be seen as a positive addition to the blog if you extol smoking cigars any more." I *am* a little curious about the appeal, but not because I want it to appeal to me. claro?

Dave said...

They're kindof classy... if used for special occasion. And I hear they are relaxing to smoke. But my objection to women smoking prohibits me from smoking myself. I will say though that cigars aren't as gross as cigarettes...

Miguel said...

hahaha, I know what you meant, Ken. But it's funny to think "Please, convince me that cigars are good. I WANT to be convinced."...yeah...this is what I do when I'm avoiding homework.

allow me to clarify what i said becuase i dont want to be labled a smoker.
I only have tried cubans, no cigs, no dope, they are below me.
but cubans i average about four a day.
I hope that clears everything up.

Misha we need to get together, i think you should fly home and we cans smoke some cubans. Jeff, you seem more partial to...um...not cubans, but you can join us if you like.

p.s. I think why cubans get such a good name (if there is such a thing for smoking) is because there illegal.

Shinekaze said...

Thats part of it, but Cuban cigars are very high quality in comparison to others. My brothers bought some when we were in Jamaica on a cruise. They said that the Cubans are a heck of a lot more enjoyable than some of the others that they have had. Cubans are only illegal because America doesnt like Castro and his ideals being right off the coast of the US. You'd think that we'd drop this vestigial bit of Cold War politics.
