--emo w/o needing to be slow as molasses, robert smith laid this out perfectly why did we lose our way?  It is bizarre how much poppier 1st-gen goth is then the multiple iterations of emo, which originated more in pop punk.



---maybe the killers are a good object lesson in crossover for British new wave-y rockers and their failure to translate (Kooks, et al.) in the 00's: maybe don't let the dude with the nasal voice and zero range sing.  I guarantee there's a theatre kid hanging around with a baritone and something to prove.
