Post Election

"the christians got their way" indeed. all the church services i've been to over the last few weeks have had quite the fervor in praying for the election, even for bush by name some of the time. a christian activism organization sends me emails to keep me up to date with the latest christian propaganda and struggles, and i'm sure there are others like it. also, christian radio stations and bands were encouraging christians to pray and vote. even the bush campaign included activity in churches to encourage registration and turn out, which Kerry officials called "going too far."

furthermore, 11 states constitutionally banned gay marriage. to those who may say that that was just the deep south, i want to point out 6 states- oregon, utah, montana, michigan, ohio, and north dakota- are included in this list. the other 5 are mississippi, kentucky, arkansas, oklahoma, and georgia. i hope all americans have the same rights. however, no person, regardless of their lifestyle, has the right to change what marriage is.

the christians responded to their duties much better this year. i'm relieved because with all i have to put up with at jesuit, i'm glad to finally have some bragging rights. i don't really want to rub it in, and i hope people don't think i'm being juvenile in reporting this. if i talked about measures besides measure 36 i wouldn't really know what i was talking about, though if somebody else'll give us a review, that'd be great.

ELECTION WATCH 2004

Hey all,

Little Election Watch over here on The Gravy...as of typing this, no one has any clue.

MSNBC has it at 246 to 207, and CNN has it at 246 to 196 (they haven't given Washington to Kerry), both with President Bush in the lead. Head over to their websites for specifics.

Comments so far...85 electoral votes to go, so the game isn't over yet. Bush took Florida according to both, and all night MSNBC has been saying that we wouldn't know that 'til Thursday. Ohio looks to be the big one, though, but Minnesota and Wisconsin (10 votes each) are gonna have a bigger role in this than people think. Both have Kerry in a lead, but just barely in Wisconsin. And Michigan, with their 17 votes, has Kerry in the lead as well.

But Ohio is the one to watch. That's the Florida this year.

Halloween junkies

Ok, so since we were unable to go trick or treating this past sunday (and because this devastated Maggie), we have decided to go trick or treating this Saturday, starting at around 5ish. In order for this to work, we need as many of you to participate by buying a bag of candy and staying at home saturday night. (if you say you'll be home but then leave, we might leave you a nasty old sock at your doorstep). Maggie, Nancy, Cynda, Karolyn, and Misha are going to be the starting group. The plan is to go to each person's house, trick or treat...possibly hang out for a while...and then take the person with us to go to the next house. People who want to join in on the trick or treating *must* wear a costume of some sort! Also, if a lot of people want to join in, it would be nice if people could volunteer to drive :). We need to know who wants in on this soon so we can plan out whose house we're going to first and who is willing to be last because the last house will be hosting a shitload of people. That's about it. If something's not clear let us know!

Oh and, don't get crap candy, that too would be prank-worthy.

After several days of working well into the morning, my old house is now completely cleaned out and we have moved into an apartment. This goes back to another post I did saying that the workers were taking forever to build my new house. Well, it's almost finished. However, the problem is that we probably won't be able to move in for about 20(possibly more) days but we only have the apartment for 12 days. Hmmm...
My brother further proved what a dumbass he is on Sunday. I came home to find that he had discovered a can of mace. Upon seeing me he asked, "Will you pay me $500 to spray this in my face?" And then he goes and sprays it in his face anyway. I don't think he'll do that again...wait...never mind, he probably will.

Hey, my first post!! It just so happens, however, that my first post comes to you in the form of rage and hurt. Yes, hurt.
First, this is not only for Ben, as it seems that some others also held this opinion (really, not only for Ben, because this may sound harsh): can I not make my own decision on who I will dance with? It seems that you think very little of me. I didn’t want to ditch Jeff. I had a good time with him but that doesn’t mean that he was the center of my universe or anything.
For Ben however, I wanted you there at the dance and I meant it. Thanks for not believing me. (BTW the camera phone thing is gross…I could have gone my life without knowing that). I really wonder what you think of me.
So, in the first part, Dave kinda makes me sound like a bitch. Then in the second part, he makes me sound nicer. I agree with you Dave. You might understand me a little more. I didn’t want Ben there because he wasn’t Jeff. I truly like his, your, others’ company in general. Seriously, you guys must think that I am a terrible person. WTF.
Now is where I get a little more upset.
I did NOT ditch my date. I am sick and tired of people judging how I SHOULD have done this (btw, Scott, this isn’t for you. I don’t want you to think I am upset at you.). Seriously though, to my friends out there: get off my back.
Finally, stop assuming you know the story. You obviously don’t.
